My Journey to Wagener-Lee

After graduating from college in 2007, I began my career working in management at Heritage Hills and Springwood golf resorts in York, Pennsylvania, Peninsula Golf & Country Club in Millsboro, Delaware, and as director of admissions and community relations at a healthcare facility in Takoma Park. But I was ready for a change, and I’m so grateful to Rick Wagener for giving me this opportunity. I feel like this job is an ideal fit, personally and professionally. I’m learning so much from everyone on staff about the many services we can provide for our clients. There’s no such thing as a “typical” day at work and I really like that.

Having met Rick two years prior to joining the firm, Sean was delighted when Rick reached out to him to discuss a newly created position at Wagener-Lee. Since starting his job in January 2019, Sean primarily supports Rick, Amanda Piper and Mike Shipley.

A Day in the Life

I began working at Wagener-Lee in January 2019. I’m immersing myself in all aspects of the business – from preparing client meeting files to data research on stocks, bonds, equities, mutual funds and ETFs.  With much encouragement from the entire Wagener-Lee team, I studied for and passed both the SIE and Series 7 exams in March and June respectively. My background in healthcare instilled in me the importance of privacy and discretion, skills that are definitely transferable to the financial services industry.

Home Grown Heroes

My parents raised me with a strong sense of always doing what’s right and treating people how you want to be treated. I also admire legendary rock climber Tommy Caldwell, whose first-ever successful climb of the 3,000-foot vertical section of El Capitan in Yosemite National Park was recently featured in the acclaimed documentary, “The Dawn Wall.” Tommy’s never-give-up attitude and ability to endure life’s greatest challenges is so inspiring, yet he’s also just a caring and wonderful human being.

Fun Fact

Rock climbing is my absolute favorite thing to do. The majority of people I meet climbing are amazing to be around. They push me to do my best and be my best. Just like the people I work with at Wagener-Lee: I am surrounded by a wonderful team that’s truly dedicated to helping our clients meet their goals and achieve their dreams. I’m proud to be part of what we do every day.
