December 2011

  • Welcome Jeff Smith!

    Jeff is a Financial Advisor and Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor new to our team. Jeff worked at Bank of America Investment Services / Merrill Lynch as a Financial Advisor for 17 years. For 7 of those years, he was the Assistant Branch Manager. Jeff also has a background in Engineering. He worked for Martin Marietta for 13 years as an engineer who designed Towed Array Sonar Systems.

    Jeff and his wife Patty live in Ellicott City. They have a daughter, Meghan, and a son, Eric. Jeff enjoys coaching his son’s travel baseball team in his spare time. We are excited Jeff chose to join our team!

  • This month Rick is traveling to Colorado for the annual Advanced Planners Study Group meeting. Rick will be working closely with other advisors and industry professionals as they share ideas and attend educational sessions.

  • As the holidays are quickly approaching, here is a reminder when the New York Stock Exchange and our offices will be closed:
    Thursday, November 24th – Thanksgiving
    Friday, November 25th – Wagener-Lee office closed
    Monday, December 26th – Christmas Monday

  • Rick Wagener just returned from the 2011 Advocacy Summit on Capitol Hill. Rick spent the day lobbying on behalf of the Financial Services Institute. He had the honor of meeting with Senator Barbara Mikulski, Senator Benjamin Cardin, Congressman C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger, Congressman John Sarbanes, Congressman Andrew Harris and Congressman Roscoe Bartlett.

  • Congratulations to Rick Wagener who qualified for membership on the 2012 RJFS Chariman’s Council. Chairman’s Council honors are presented only to those financial advisors who have demonstrated an unparalleled commitment to personal service and professional integrity. Members of the Chairman’s Council represent the top echelon of the firm’s financial advisors, which is a privilege limited to a select few.*

  • Congratulations to Steve Lee who is a member of the 2012 RJFS Executive Council. Executive Council honors are presented only to those financial advisors who demonstrate an extraordinary level of commitment to clients through personal service and professional integrity.*

  • Congratulations to Amanda Piper who passed the CFA Level 1 exam in June 2011 on her first attempt. She is a 2012 Level II Candidate in the CFA Program.

It is the gold standard of investment credentials worldwide. The CFA Program reflects a broad Candidate Body of Knowledge™ focusing on current investment knowledge, analytical skill, and ethical standards. The CFA program is the most widely known and respected investment credential in the world with more than 90,000 charterholders in 130 countries.

    Candidates must pass eighteen hours of rigorous examination and make an annual commitment to uphold and abide by a professional code of conduct in order to earn the CFA charter.
